This recipe can be customized to taste and your personal needs as well. Directions: 1 TBS 3x daily
Ingredients:
1 medium onion (yellow)
10 Cloves Garlic, crushed/minced
1/2 cup Horseradish grated
1/2 cup Ginger grated
2 medium Cayenne Peppers Fresh/chopped, or if you must use dried flakes or ground (use to taste)
1/4 cup Raw Organic Local Honey
1 Zest of Lemon (to taste)
2 fresh sprigs of Fresh Rosemary or 2 TBS dried
1 TBS Ground Turmeric
Apple Cider Vinegar
Other medicinal Ingredients you can add:
Thyme, Sage, Cinnamon, Black Pepper, Echinacea, and Elderberries.
Amish Fire Cider should taste hot, spicy, and sweet.
Instructions:
Put ginger, horseradish, onion, garlic, peppers, lemon zest, rosemary, turmeric in a quart jar (this is also where you would add any of the other medicinal ingredients that you might've chosen as well). Pour in and cover with apple cider vinegar about 2 inches. Use a piece of parchment paper or wax paper under the lid to keep the vinegar from touching the metal. Shake well and store in a cool dark place for a month.
NOTE: *You must shake it daily.
After one month, use cheesecloth to strain out the pulp, pouring the vinegar into a clean jar. Be sure to squeeze as much of the liquid goodness as you can from the pulp while straining.
Now add a fourth a cup of honey and stir until Inc. taste your cider and add another fourth a cup until you reach the desired sweetness. Some recipes add the honey in the beginning, but with flavor profile changing over time, I like to add the honey in the end.
* Other herbal oils can be added to your honey before you add this in the end, such as cannabis oil which also is a pain reliever and inflammation agent.
* Amish fire cider is a great wintertime tonic and as a remedy for colds and coughs. Often people also use it as a salad dressing, on rice, or with steamed vegetables.
